Bear B.U.M. goes to Algonquin with the Grads of 2011

Last year Bear B.U.M. had such a great trip to the French River with the Grads of 2011 he decided he wanted to go again this year. Unfortunately, not all the Grads could go. Never-the-less, Bear B.U.M. was still very excited to go on a trip to Algonquin with Alex, Eric, and Todd.

At the first camp site, on Little Trout Lake, the students worked very hard to build a nice fire as well as an extra seat for Bear B.U.M. to sit and watch the fire. Bear B.U.M. thought it was great to sit around the fire and listen to the stories of the students.

The next morning, carefully tucked under the arm of Alex, the grads and Bear B.U.M. set off for Shah Lake. Nearing the first portage Bear B.U.M. was excited and, truth be told, a little afraid when they came across a moose grazing by the shore. Bear B.U.M. had never been that close to a moose before.

It was very rainy on the portage and Alex kept falling in the mud. Luckily for Alex, she landed on Bear B.U.M. every time she fell. Not so lucky for Bear B.U.M. who was pretty muddy after the portage.

Because of the rain, Bear B.U.M. and the students decided to stop at a camp site on the Tim River. Bear B.U.M. was happy with this decision because he could finally dry off and clean off some of the mud.

The weather was poor the next day and everyone decided to spend an extra day at the Tim River site. The students were very bored.

Because of the delay, Bear B.U.M. and the students had to leave early the following day. It was very cold in the morning.

After many miles of paddling and a lot of portaging, the grads and Bear B.U.M. finally reached the Petawawa River. Only two more portages to go for the day.

When they finally got to their site on Daisy Lake, the students decided to go swimming before dinner. Bear B.U.M. watched from a safe place as he wasn't going to get wet again. Bear fur is hard to dry.

The next morning was beautiful as the students headed for home.

After a few hours of paddling the students finally arrived at the end of the trip. Everyone was glad to get back. It was a great trip for Bear B.U.M.
