BEAR B.U.M. goes to the French River with the Grads of 2011

Bear B.U.M. was quite excited to go on a canoe trip with the Grads of 2011, especially when he found out that they were going to stop at the Hungry Bear for lunch on the way. His excitement quickly turned to fear though, when he learned that the Hungry Bear planned on having Bear B.U.M. for lunch.

Luckily the students helped save Bear B.U.M. from the Stupid Hungry Blue Bear and everyone became good friends.

After lunch, the students and Bear B.U.M. got into their canoes and had to paddle into the wind for several hours. It was very hard and Bear B.U.M. and the students were very tired after a long day paddling.

Bear B.U.M. was also quite hungry and kept bugging the students to make him dinner. He was getting pretty grouchy.

Later that night, after a wonderful meal of berries and cookies, Bear B.U.M. was surprised by an unexpected visitor, a coquettish little white bear. Bear B.U.M. was pretty excited to have found a special friend and he and the little white bear, whose name he never did learn, spent quite a bit of quality time together. Bear B.U.M. was a very, very, happy Bear.

The next day proved to be a short paddling day and Bear B.U.M. had time to help the students build an Inuksuk, or ᐃᓄᒃᓱᒃ.

He also engaged in some quality play time with the students. Bear B.U.M. was having a great time on this canoe trip.

On the third day, Mr. B. caught Bear B.U.M. in the canoe without a life-jacket. Mr. B., who is responsible for the safety of all the children, had to scold Bear B.U.M. and Bear B.U.M. was sad for the rest of the day.

Bear B.U.M. was so sad that he didn't even go swimming with the children later that day. Bear B.U.M. just sat on a rock and pouted while everyone else was having fun.

To make Bear B.U.M. feel better the children decided to show Bear B.U.M. their bare bums while swimming. This made Bear B.U.M. happy even though only one of the children showed a true bare bum because she had forgotten her bathing suit.

The next day the students and Bear B.U.M. headed for home with some great memories of a wonderful trip on the French River.
